Chicago Portfolio School is offering multiple online workshops to help build portfolios in Creative Advertising and Strategy, in addition to skill-strengthening classes such as Radio Writing, Side Hustles and Content & Culture! Classes range from 4 weeks to 8 weeks, and consist of both lectures and critiques of weekly assignments. The workshops start the week of October 19th! Last day to sign up is Sunday, October 18th.

  • UX Writing

    Amy Hollrah Stevens, Senior Manager, UX Creative at Allstate

    Tuesdays at 6:00pm - 8 weeks
    Cost Is $600

    UX writing is an integral part of the UX Design process, with UX Writers guiding users through the experience of interacting with an online or mobile space. This 8-week course will teach you the building blocks of UX writing, and how the role of UX Writer functions. You’ll leave with the start of a UX portfolio piece, plus the skills to continue building on it outside of class. // Teaching the class will be the talented Amy Hollrah Stevens, Senior Manager and UX Creative at Allstate in Charlotte. Amy has 20+ years experience spanning user experience, marketing, advertising and social channels. In her current role, Amy manages teams across consumer-facing products within the Allstate brand, and applies a human-centered design approach to every experience. // Class begins Tuesday, October 20th and will meet at 6:00pm CST!

    Scott Smith, Award Winning Creative Director, Writer and Director

    Wednesdays at 6:00pm - 6 weeks
    Cost Is $450

    If what you really want to do is direct, then this 6-week workshop will teach you how to create, storyboard, shoot and edit a visual story from start to finish. The skills you learn will be applicable to creating online content for advertising, video journalism, and short films. All in hopes of leaving the workshop with a solid piece for your portfolio. // Learn from Creative Director Scott Smith, who’s also an award-winning writer and director. His first short film, “Ten,” got the attention of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, which landed him on their TV filmmaking competition, PROJECT GREENLIGHT. Smith was one of three Director finals selected out of a pool of two-thousand. Since then, Smith has written and directed two award-winning feature films, “Chasing the Blues,” and “Being Bucky,” and has shot well over twenty short films and scores of commercials, including a Super Bowl spot for Frito-Lays. His work has screened at such prestigious festivals as the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW, Chicago International Film Festival as well as Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and Chicago. // Class begins Wednesday, October 21st and will meet at 6:00pm CST.
