Chicago Portfolio School is offering a few online workshops this fall in Creative Advertising, Podcasting, Sports Marketing and more! Strengthen your skills and make a quick portfolio-worthy piece! 

The Starting your Portfolio Workshop starts the week of Monday, October 11th! Last day to sign up is Friday, October 8th.

  • Starting Your Portfolio

    Mondays at 6pm-8pm — 8 weeks
    Cost Is $600

    Take a deep dive into solving problems for brands, learn how to change the behavior of consumers, think of big ideas that resonate, and leave with portfolio-worthy creative pieces.‎
     

    Rachel, a Texas transplant, has been working in the Chicago advertising world for seven years. She’s worked on brands such as McDonald’s, ALDI, Reynolds, U.S. Cellular, Craftsman, and Bridgestone. In her free time she enjoys cooking/entertaining, live music, and anything Beatles/Paul McCartney related.

  • Creative Sports Marketing

    Tuesdays at 6pm-8pm - 8 weeks
    Cost Is $600

    Sports Management is Sports Marketing, and samples of your best promotional ideas will set you apart. (Nobody is going to ask you about your GPA.) Learn how to make campaigns for teams, leagues, brands, events, Social, and NIL that will engage fans, attract sponsors, go viral, and get you hired. 


    First class is Tuesday, October 26th at 6PM-8PM CT. Cost is $600.‎

  • Breaking into Podcasting

    2 Consecutive Weeks starting 10/26, 6pm-8pm CST
    Cost Is $150

    Podcasting is fun and easy, whether it’s reviewing craft beer with your buddies or advice for a tech start-up. Learn how to navigate the podcasting platforms, equipment, editing, posting and promoting.


    First class is Tuesday, October 26th at 6PM CT. Last class is Tuesday, November 2nd at 6PM CT. Cost is $150.‎

  • Navigating the Freelance World

    November 10th and 11th from 6pm-8pm
    Cost Is $150

    In today’s remote world, more and more people are thinking of making the jump into the freelance world. But it’s more complicated than it seems. This class is a detail-rich, two-night workshop that covers everything from marketing your work to doing your taxes.

     

    Class meets twice consecutively, starting November 10th and November 11th from 6pm-8pm CST. Cost is $150.00.

  • Firedrill Campaigns Week

    5 classes M-F from 11/15-11/19, 6pm-8pm
    Cost Is $375

    Nothing produces great ideas like a tight deadline. Or, better yet, five of them. In this workshop, you’ll finish a campaign, from problem to solution, in every session. It’s great practice for working with the deadline looming and it’s a great way to create a portfolio piece. 

     

    Join us for a full week of class! Starting Monday, November 15th from 6pm-8pm CST. Last class is Friday, November 19th from 6pm-8pm CST. Cost is $375.

  • Building Your Portfolio in WordPress

    Thursdays, 3 weeks from 6pm-8pm
    Cost Is $300

    Wirecutter recently lauded Wordpress.com as the best platform for customizing your site. In this workshop, you'll learn to work with WordPress portfolio themes, UX basics, responsive design, and the simple coding to make your site work. You'll leave with a portfolio site that’s exactly the way you want it. 

     

    First class is Thursday, November 2nd from 6pm-8pm CT. Cost is $300.00.

  • Selling Your Ideas

    Mondays, 8 weeks, 6pm-8pm CT
    Cost Is $600

    Learn how to make a pitch people can’t refuse, internally or externally, whether it’s five minutes or fifty, face-to-face or over zoom. By the end of this class, you'll be able to pitch concisely, convincingly, and confidently. Because it doesn’t matter how good your idea is if you can’t sell it in.

     

    First class is Monday, October 25th from 6pm-8pm CT.

  • Earned Media Campaigns

    Mondays, 8 weeks – 6pm-8pm CT
    Cost Is $600

    Traditional advertising portfolios are filled with big ideas that brands should buy ad space for. Earned media portfolios also need big ideas – but ideas that people want to share on social and publications want to write about. Learn how to create ideas that will earn their own publicity, and leave with a portfolio-worthy campaign.

     

    First class is Monday, October 25th from 6pm-8pm CT.

  • What’s a Portfolio?

    Free Workshop, Meets November 8, 15 and 22 - 6pm-8pm
    Cost Is $0

    Want to be a Strategist, Brand Manager, Copywriter, Graphic Designer, Art Director, UX or UI Designer, Social Content, Digital Designer, Video Production, Illustrator, Photographer? You’re going to need a portfolio. Learn what sets the great ones apart, and how building your portfolio starts with knowing the exact job you want.
